State Board Secretary Dustin to Leave NY for NASBA VP of State Boards Post

New York State Board for Public Accountancy Executive Secretary and NYSSCPA member Daniel J. Dustin has been named vice president of state board relations at the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA), according to NASBA.

He will join NASBA on January 1, 2012, upon the retirement of David A. Costello, NASBA’s current President and CEO, and the succession of Ken L. Bishop to President and CEO, NASBA said in a press release.

But at least he’s being shrewd about estate planning and considering the tax implications of his financial decisions: As reported in the New York Times, Paterno recently sold his house to his wife for $1.

Longer life spans and rising costs have changed the retirement outlook for many workers, and Social Security may not provide enough post-retirement income, according to ICMA Retirement Corporation (ICMA-RC) and the National Association of Government Defined Contribution Administrators (NAGDCA), who have partnered together to raise awareness about the importance of saving for retirement during National Save for Retirement Week.

Search for Lauren Spierer, Daughter of NYSSCPA Member, Continues

The search for Lauren Spierer, the daughter of NYSSCPA Westchester Chapter member Robert Spierer, is continuing, with police vowing to keep up the search for the missing 20-year-old Indiana University college student who disappeared around 4:30 a.m. on June 3 after a night out with friends, according to the Associated Press.

Alan Dlugash, a member of the Taxation of Individuals Committee, spoke with NY1 about how the new tax law may result in more money in people’s pockets. Also talking about tax law changes was Manhattan/Bronx Chapter member Alan Strauss, who was interviewed by the Buffalo News regarding refund delays due to the changes. Along with commenting on tax laws, NYSSCPA members talked about IRS rules and Roth IRAs, among other topics.
