Office of the Professions Launches Facebook Page

The State Education Department's Office of the Professions -- that's the office in charge of licensing and disciplining the 48 New York state professions, including accountancy -- now has a Facebook page (NYS Professions).

The creation of the page is part of a broader Web 2.0 initiative undertaken by the SED, to "help communicate effectively with licensees, consumers and prospective students," according to Office of the Professions Deputy Commissioner Frank Munoz in a meeting summary memo to the state Board of Regents Professional Practice Committee.

Other technology initiatives by the OP include providing additional information on the office's Web site in the form of FAQs and an internal document scanning project, according to the memo.
